It’s official I’m finally a Confederate, this proves it!
They spelt “Read’s” Battalion wrong on my certificate, don’t mean to pick on them since they do such a great job but it’s typical of the Confederacy, lol.

Congratulations! I’m sure I must be your relative. Just found out that Thomas B.Jones is my 3rd Great Uncle. Please give me a call at 540 xxx xxxxx. Fielding Jones was my G.G.Grandfather and he father was James Jones who was a Rev. War soldier.
Have 1863 short carbin made in richmond . 21 inch barrell do you have any info.
Richmond Armory made 3 length barrels…..25″, 33″, and 40″….. If yours is 21″ it was probably cut down at some time. Does it have a front sight? Please provide some photos and I can better identify.
Gene

John, if you could provide high resolution photos of the carbine it would help in answering any questions you may have. If possible please photo the lock plate, barrel, both barrel bands, butt plate, front sight, rear sight and any markings on the stock.
