Richmond Carbines, Harpers Ferry Stocks, Model 1855 stocks that we’re originally made for Harpers Ferry Rifle Muskets with the Maynard Primer Systems. Notice the lock mortise showing primer feed cuts, most of these feeds cuts are observed on 1861 and 1862 Richmonds. Some are also seen on carbines and short rifle made in mid to late 1864 due to the shortages of stocks being shipped from Macon Georgia. These stocks were confiscated in April of 1861 when Stonewall Jackson raided the Armory and brought back to Richmond all the standing weapons,parts and machinery to manufacture rifles with.
