Hi. This is second type with button latch and lip over the rear sight vs. butterfly(?).
It’s a First Type Carbine with a Second Type Breech lever. This is not unusual since the First Type Breech lever commonly failed in combat……this may have been converted during the war or maybe it left the factory this……..could be some First Types were manufactured with the newer Breech lever operating system.
